WHO IS H.A.I.A.?

HAIA is a Domestic Non Profit Organization incorporated here in the great state of Hawai'i - 501c3 is pending. It was formed to help our student athletes further their education after high school via their academic and physical accomplishments. It is a known fact that college athletic departments no longer have the budget that allows them to come to Hawaii to recruit as often as they’d like. Over the years we have seen fewer and fewer coaches recruiting here in the islands.

Most parents and students are not aware of the ‘process’ involved until it is too late. We help our student athletes become aware of the requirements they need to fulfill in order to have their application s be considered for college. Our goal is to develop Hawaii’s youth into student—athletes.

	HAWAI'I ATHLETES IN ACTION FOUNDERS

Lua Tuiasosopo Back in the Spring of 2004, during their oldest son's Freshman year in High School Ana & Lua Tuiasosopo were contemplating and discussing both their sons Ana Jr., & Tui's futures after High School. The questions they asked themselves…”What will it take to get both our sons to College” on an Athletic Scholarship. The person who has been the greatest influence to the Tuiasosopo's and who helped navigate them & point them in the direction they should go is none other than former UCLA, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks standout cousin Manu Tuiasosopo. His greatest advice was to get your sons to the “NIKE CAMPS”,” expose your sons to the specific College Camps”, “Start early” Manu said, beginning their Freshman/Sophomore year in High School. Ana Tuiasosopo Empowering themselves with College 101 information for the Athletes Parents which is basically everything a parent needs to know on getting their child qualified for an Athletic Scholarship to go to College, navigating the NCAA Clearinghouse, Collegeboard.com, most importantly the RECRUITING PROCESS. Throughout this learning process it had been noticed over the years that many talented & gifted local Athletes were getting left behind due to insufficient requirements not being met academically, and one of the biggest factors is “INSUFFICIENT KNOWLEDGE” on the parents & Athletes parts on what it actually took (Academic & Physical wise) to get their sons/daughters to college. We saw that there was a need for Parent's & prospective Student Athletes to be well prepared, in order to accomplish these things, a 2 Fold mission began, hence the birth of Hawai'i Athletes in Action December 2004. We needed to find a way to empower the families w/knowledge that come from a low income household all the way to the families that are financially well to do w/the resources they need to better prepare their children to become eligible to receive Athletic Scholarships. Our focus began w/the disadvantaged youth/athletes of Hawai'i ….targeting those that came from Low Income Households, but we quickly found out that this epidemic has no prejudice to what kind of home you came from. So, our mission broadened to serve the Youth/Athletes of Hawai'I no matter what your race, financial, academic, housing arrangements are.

	2 FOLD MISSION OF H.A.I.A.

A. To EMPOWER the Prospective Athletes & Parents with the knowledge & resources on what it will take to qualify academically for an Athletic Scholarship beginning their FRESHMAN YEAR (9 TH GRADE) in High School.

B. To help the Athletes receive greater exposure to College Coaches by attending Summer Football Camps/Combines on the mainland/Hawai'i. These summer camps also provide our prospective athletes with actual college life experience by staying in dorms, eating at the college cafeteria, interacting with the many different people and personalities who come from different cultures. It helps our prospective Athletes become better acclimated and prepared to enter into college life; it helps them to gain their independence. Teaches them life lessons. Instilling Christ like values.

Too many talented Athletes return home to Hawai'i due to being homesick. With H.A.I.A.'s 2 fold mission, we should be able to help our Athletes conquer, and overcome these obstacles. Our whole mission as an organization is to help produce “PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS” who will have a positive impact on their communities, individuals who will in return give back to the community and serve others.

The greatest example to walk the earth & epitomized the true meaning of love & service was Jesus Christ. We here at Hawai'I Athletes in Action hope to walk in the footsteps of our Savior Jesus Christ, hence our mission here at HAWAI'I ATHLETES IN ACTION to serve others unconditionally and give back to the community in any which way we can. It is through the most beloved partnership with God & our Savior Jesus Christ that we along w/our awesome Board of Director's will accomplish Hawai'i Athletes in Actions 2 fold mission. It is through our affiliation and powerful partnerships that we've forged with other promising and upstanding organizations & individuals that will help us to accomplish HAWAI'I ATHLETES IN ACTION'S 2 FOLD MISSION.
